The Mascoutah Fire Department provides fire and rescue services to the residents in and around Mascoutah, IL. We cover approximately 150 square miles that include both the City of Mascoutah and the Mascoutah Rural Fire Protection District. Included in the district is Mid-America Airport where the Mascoutah Fire Department serves as primary response for all non-aircraft incidents.

The Mascoutah Fire Department operates one fire station, built in 1976 and located near downtown. From this fire station the department operates five pieces of apparatus including three Rescue Pumpers, one Squad/Rescue Truck, and one Brush Truck. We have several mutual aid agreements in place that can bring in additional apparatus as needed including ladder trucks and tankers. The Mascoutah Fire Department consists of 43 volunteers inlcuding a Chief, Assistant Chief, Deputy Chief, 5 Captains, 5 Lieutenants, and 30 Firefighters. The department responds to an average of 160 calls during the year. In 2002 our actual number of calls was 167 calls. Of these calls, 102 were within the city limits while 65 were in the surrounding district. The average number of Firefighters per call is 17.

We are dispatched on emergency calls by St. Clair County 911 dispatching. Department members are alerted to calls by pagers. Chief Officers report directly to the incident scene while the remainder of the department report to the station to respond with apparatus.
